The author is Dr. Giovanni A. Orlando.
 
He was born in South America, Caracas (Venezuela), in an Italian family. 

 
The family came back to Italy in 1986 after the death of Dr Orlando's father.

 
He began to play with scientific calculators at twelve. Its first formal job with PCs was at the age of 16, at the end of the high school, in "Banco Caracas". The first contact with UNIX was in 1988, on a SUN Sparcstation 1+, with SUN OS 4.0.3, including X-Window and Motif 1.01 programming. 

 
His first contact with Linux was Infomagic's Linux Slackware, in Nov. 1995. After Caldera OpenLinux, in their versions Caldera Network Desktop, OpenLinux 1.0-2.4. Then the training was re-written for RedHat in English and then for LinuxPowerPC. The product for SuSE Linux become available in August 1999, in german.
 
In August 2000, he announce the development of FTOSX, for Intel and PowerPC platform resuming its twelve years of UNIX and Linux as desktop system.

 
Dr. Orlando went to University at the young age of 16. He took his degree in Mathematics in 1986 at the age of 22, in UCV (Caracas), writing a degree thesis in Functional Analysis. He took the Italian degree in Math in 1993,at UNIBO (Università degli Studi di Bologna) writing a degree thesis in Mathematical Physics.

 
Dr. Orlando worked as a programmer with C, X-Window, Motif, System Integrator, Unix technical support for: Digital (Ultrix, DEC 3100, 5100), IBM (AIX, Risc6000, ibm530, ibm520), Hewlett-Packard (HP-UX, Serie HP-9000), Interactive 3.2 and SCO UNIX, from 1985 to 1995, in Venezuela, Italy and USA. 

 
Dr. Orlando was also a professor assistant in UCV (Caracas) from 1982 to 1983 and a high school teacher in Italy, Pordenone, teaching Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science. 

 
He founded Future Technologies in 1994, just on the day of his birthday, in Pordenone. Future Technologies started as a consulting company for UNIX support, programming in general and training. 
 
He founded Future Technologies Inc, a Delaware company April 6, 2000, with its headquarters in Santa Monica - CA. 
 
He handles FTLinuxCourse, LinuxWebCampus, LinuxUtilities, FTOSX and YourLinux projects

 
Dr. Orlando is also a JUDO black belt , (Caracas-1985), was a theater extra in: L'Aida di Verdi (Benevento-1988), and also first voice in the high school choir.
